Food Storage – Do It Yourself vs. Buying It Done
Some people are “doers.” Others pride themselves on “making things happen.” And it’s probably this difference in your overall outlook on life that will determine how you approach acquiring your emergency food storage.
If you’re a “hands on” sort, you’ll want to start with the basics, learn all the details and then do it all yourself: the buying, the preparation, the packaging and the canning. It’s a lot of work, but gratifying. You’ll want to consider what you’ll need to store and how much of each item. You’ll also want to plan for most contingencies.
You’ll want to practice “rotation,” and I’m not talking about your automobile tires. To minimize spoilage, you’ll need to track the shelf life of each food so you can use it in a timely manner and then replace it with fresh stock. We call that rotating.
If you’re the “hands off, “ or “I have better things to do with my time” sort, you’ll want your food storage readymade. You’ll learn just enough to find out who can do it for you and how soon they can get it done.
You might think that a company like Augason Farms would be more useful to the second group. But that’s not true. We have designed our various pails, kits, packs and individual products to serve both approaches to storing emergency food.
Hands on
For the “hands on” crowd, we have all the essentials and peripherals you’ll need—essentials like wheat, flour, salt and sugar or honey; peripherals like pails with gamma seal lids and oxygen absorbers for proper long-term storage.
You see, Augason Farms has been in this business since 1972. We know what it takes to build a good store of emergency food. We’ll help you work through the needs you encounter. We offer products with proven quality and nutrition. We even have a lot of things that you do-it-yourselfers might not be able to produce yourself—powdered honey and powdered butter, for instance.
And some advanced storing technologies are beyond the capability of the average individual, such as freeze drying. Augason Farms makes available a variety of freeze dried meats, fruits and vegetables. No matter how you approach your food storage, you’ll see the advantage of these helpful products.
Hands off
For the “I have other things to do” crowd, we have a variety of pails, packs and kits specifically designed for their needs—ranging from small “grab ‘n’ go” emergency pails with food for a few days, to packs with enough food for a month or a year and on up to expansive kits with enough food to feed 40 people for a full year . . . and everything in between!
The broad range of easy-to-get, ready-to-use foods that we offer makes it easy for those who see the value in storing emergency food but don’t want its acquisition to consume all their spare time. For you, Augason Farms has created just what you need. Thoughtfully arranged and organized to fill almost any need, our comprehensive kits, packs and pails make acquiring emergency food storage a breeze. You’ll be exceptionally happy with our exclusive line of entrées—elegant dishes that are ready in just minutes with minimal time and effort.
And since both groups appreciate quality and dependability, we’re here for both of you.
In between
And just in case you see yourself located somewhere in between these two groups, don’t feel left out. As you can easily see, we can be as helpful to you. The fact is, Augason Farms has products for anyone venturing into the accumulation of emergency food storage, no matter their approach. We stand ready to help with the finest products in the industry.
